Thank You

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all residents in District 8 and the former District 14.  I have learned a lot from you and appreciated all of the feedback, comments and questions I have received over the past 8 years.  It has been a privilege and an honour to serve as a municipal councillor and to represent you.  I know there are emails and phone calls that got missed or were delayed in being responded to but I appreciate the patience extended to me as I juggled the many demands of the office.  I continue to be amazed by the incredible work of individuals and organizations in our district who work for a more caring, loving, diverse community – it has been an inspiration to work with you.

I would like to extend congratulations to Lindell Smith on becoming Councillor and say a very big thank you to all the candidates who ran in the district – Irvine Carvery, Martin Farrell, Anthony Kawalski, Patrick Murphy, Chris Poole, and Brenden Sommerhalder.   Each of the candidates raised important ideas and suggestions for the district and municipality and many thoughtful conversations took place about the future of our community.

I will continue to be councillor until the new Regional Council in sworn in on Nov. 1.  At this time Lindell will become the new representative for District 8.  During this time of transition I encourage you to contact my council coordinator, Nadine Yuriev, to followup on any concerns or questions you have.  Nadine can be reached at: 902-490-1577 or  I will forward Lindell’s contact info to this list once it is activated by HRM after November 1.

In November I will be starting a new job as Director, Settlement and Integration Services at Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS).  I am very excited about this work and look forward to welcoming and supporting newcomers to our wonderful province.

Finally, I would like to publicly recognize the tremendous support of my family, Richard, Ruth and Sophie during my term in office.  There were many meals missed, late nights, and never-ending reports that needed to be read but their support was crucial to me being able to do the work required.  I am very grateful.
